(I'p!n:oI [b]On-campus[/b]: The Fredericton campus residences can accommodate approximately 1,600 students. There are 12 traditional residence houses (including co-ed, male-only and female- only) as well as an apartment (families) and a suite-style residence (mature students). The apartment and suite-style residences have full cooking facilities, while a dining plan is mandatory in the traditional residences. The UNB Fredericton residence system aims for a 50/50 ratio of new to returning students. Rooms are allocated to new students on the basis of preference and application date, and to returning students on a points system, reflecting seniority, grade point average and campus life engagement. A single room with a dining plan for the academic year (eight months) ranges from $7,511 to $9,265; a bed in a double room with a dining plan for the academic year ranges from $6,281 to $7,553; apartments range from an average of $614 per month (one bedroom) to $847 per month (three bedrooms); suite-style accommodations range from $535 per month (bedroom in a triple suite) to $695 per month (single suite).Ce%R Xv4B(_edF/P

The Saint John campus residences accommodate approximately 240 students in two co-ed residence houses. One is a tradional residence with single and double rooms and three two-bedroom apartments, and the second residence is a two-bedroom suite-style residence with kitchenette and shared bathroom. Approximately 50 percent of first-year students live in residence. Spaces in residence are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Annual costs: single room with meal plan: $6,074; double room with meal plan: $5,599; apartments: $575/month; and two-bedroom suites: $4,751, which includes a $300 meal plan.

Integrated Technology Services at UNB provides students with information, communication and technology services. Students may obtain personalized information through My UNB e-Services. This service, which can be accessed on or off campus, provides students with class and exam schedules, course marks, transcripts, tax forms, financial statements, online registration, Unix accounts, Blackboard access. demographic information and much more. As part of UNB e-mail services, students select their own e-mail address which they can give to friends and colleagues and keep for life. Students also have access to a UNB-provided computer account which enables them to print black and white or colour documents, publish their own professional web pages, use site licensed software and save or retrieve files from on or off campus. Computer labs are located throughout campus and are equipped with special software and printers. UNB is known for having one of the best computer-to-student ratios in Canada. Students are able to borrow laptops while studying in a UNB library or choose to bring personal laptops on campus and connect to UNB’s wireless network. Students living in residence have access to ResNet, which offers a high-speed connection to the Internet and UNB network. Undergraduate: Close to 1,000 students attend UNB annually on entrance scholarships, ranging from $500 to $55,000. About 100 renewable scholarships are awarded each year. UNB has four Blake-Kirkpatrick scholarships, each having a total value of $55,000 for engineering students and $45,000 for non-engineering students. UNB guarantees high school students scholarship support as follows: grades between 80 percent and 84.9 percent – $500, between 85 percent and 89.9 percent – $1,000, an average of 90 percent or higher – at least $1,500 in total scholarship support. About 64 percent of first-year students hold sholarships. Also, bursaries ranging from $100 - $2,500 may be available to full and part-time students experiencing financial need. Approximately 2,200 students each year receive undergraduate and entrance scholarships. )h0f"r9B IV$u

Graduate: Graduate students have access to over 300 awards, some based on research merit and others on financial need. Bursaries, and numerous scholarships, such as the Dr. John S. Little International Study Fellowships and the School of Graduate Studies Travel Grants allow graduate students to travel to conferences and to work with institutions abroad. UNB also offers a number of recruiting awards, such as the Dr. William S. Lewis Doctoral Fellowships ($25,000/year for up to four years), the David Armstrong Doctoral Fellowship in Chemistry and Physics ($25,000 per year), or the President’s Doctoral Tuition Awards (the cost of tuition for three years). Finally, the University of New Brunswick students have typically had an above-average success rate in graduate-level Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada award competitions.
