I'm a 24 year old from an Acadian village in this province who has lived in Halifax for 5 years now.  I speak English and French as native languages and know a little bit of Chinese (enough to make use of dictionary in Chinese but not always enough to follow a conversation).  I'm looking for more exposure to Chinese so that my listening ability, vocabulary and sense of idiomatic usage increase.  I think just being around the language more often will help in those regards.  I'm looking for someone to spend time with, basically.  I'm interested in things like playing guitar, video games (although I most often play older games, like from the late 80's to mid 90's), internet, and TV shows every once in a while and I'm not really into stuff like watching sports or going to the bars.  I currently reside in the South End, close to Spring Garden Rd.  Leave a message, anyone who's interested, either in the thread or in private and I will check here often.

Halifax is very much an English city even though it has a large percentage of French speakers.  It's very very rare that I hear my own dialect spoken on the streets and I grew up only three hours outside of the city.

(Translation for those who don't know French: I'm originally from a small village in Yarmouth county here in Nova Scotia.  There, there are two Acadian regions which we call Par-en-Haut [Up Top] and Par-en-Bas [Down Bottom].  I'm from Par-en-Bas.)

I do speak both Canadian English and Acadian French natively without an accent so that's not a problem.  What kind of guitar do you play?

I've only got my acoustic guitar in Halifax but I have an electric guitar and bass that I lent to my brother back in my village.  I can play a variety of music, from 90's rock and pop to folk music to video game music to some classical music.  I listen to an even wider range of music (although most of it has been non-English lately) and the only genre I consistently don't usually like is heavy metal.

I can play bass but I don't have any bass guitar in Halifax.  I'm not really familiar with 70's punk either.

Howdy?
( `$ a, Y  F8 h( ~Even though i'm from China, Chinese was my first foreign language which makes me a minority from Xinjiang Uyghur  Autonomous Region . Throughout high school years Chinese was a foreign language for me.  I went to prepatory school to learn Chinese more professionally  for two years before going to university in Xi'an,China.  Technically, I have more than 15 years of learning Chinese experience, but interestingly I still cannot tell differences among four tones. lol .
